► $289M in extramural funds leveraged by awardees

► Over 1200 faculty, researchers, and graduate students served

The UC Multicampus-National Lab Collaborative Research and Training (CRT) Award is a catalyst for innovation, bridging faculty, scientists, and students across disciplines and UC campuses with Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories. More than a funding mechanism, the CRT Award fosters interdisciplinary partnerships that thrive on shared expertise and state-of-the-art facilities to transform ideas into groundbreaking discoveries and innovations.

Pushing boundaries and Leading Change

Advancing critical fields such as high-energy physics, wildfire resilience, and national security, Collaborative Research and Training Awards incentivize creative collaboration amongst scientists who might otherwise remain siloed. By seeding interdisciplinary partnerships, Collaborative Awards fuel the expansion of knowledge and strategically position the UC system to lead and compete for external funding in fields defining our future.

Connecting minds across institutions and career stages

By connecting faculty, lab scientists, postdocs, and students across disciplines and institutions, the Collaborative Research and Training Award supports professional networking and development for individuals at every career stage. It provides UC graduate students and postdocs with hands-on, meaningful research and training opportunities, immersing them in real-world challenges and preparing them to become leaders in science and technology.
