Sustainability
Staff Engagement
There are several annual conferences and events at which university staff convene to learn and share best practices in sustainability and climate action. The California Higher Education Sustainability Conference (CHESC) brings together higher education professionals from across the state to discuss pertinent issues in sustainability. The UC also organizes with the California State University system and California Community College system to hold the Annual Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Awards.
Additionally, UCOP manages the Energy Efficiency Partnership Program in partnership with CSU and the state’s four investor-owned utilities. This program provides support for staff trainings in energy efficiency and green building practices.
Staff at individual UC locations are encouraged to visit their location's sustainability website. To help employees make sustainable choices the following employee discounts are available. We are working on getting up-to-date information regarding vehicle manufacturer rebates.
Commuter Benefits Program
UCOP provides a commuter benefits program to staff which offers discounted parking, transit fares and in lot charging stations.
Million LED Challenge
The Million LED Challenge is a collaboration between the University of California, California State University, California Community Colleges, and Department of General Services with the objective of deploying high-quality, high-efficacy LED light sources to students, staff, faculty, alumni and retirees.
