LMS-based Course Description Through Storyline
Last updated: 5/26/2025
Note: The following information is known to apply to the UC Learning Center, a SumTotal-based LMS. Experiences may vary with other LMS platforms.
The LMS-based course description may be added to a Storyline-built eCourse through the Description field in the Publish panel (LMS/LRS tab).
The LMS-based course description should be entered as HTML, with no line breaks between tags.
The UC Learning Center limits these descriptions (displayed in Activity Details pages) to 4,000 characters, including all HTML tags and properties.
Also, note: the course title entered in the Title field in the Publish panel or the Title field in the Player Properties panel (the two fields are synced) is converted to the HTML-defined web page title for the course package — that is, it defines the title that appears in the browser tab and that will be announced by screen readers when they make the tab active — so, unless you plan to change that title in the index.html file after publishing, you should ensure the Title field reflects how you want the title presenting to users. In other words, don't enter a title more appropriate as a file name, like "cyber_sec_2023_update_v13-final," since that wouldn't be nearly as effective a web page title.
