Barry O’Neill

Barry O’Neill grew up in Toronto, received a degree in psychology  from the University of Michigan, and in 2001 joined UCLA’s Department of Political Science.  His work applies game theory and other formal methods to analyze negotiation and conflict resolution, especially in the international relations context.  Honor, Symbols, and War received the American Political Science Association’s Woodrow Wilson award for the best book on politics, government, and international affairs.  He is the incoming chair of the UC-wide Committee on Academy Freedom.
