Use unique names for links

The Challenge
People who use screen readers appreciate not having to hear repetitive words as they navigate Web pages. If a page contains a series of links to files that are all related to the same subject, avoid using the general topic in the link name. For example, if the links are all related to graduate students, use unique names for the links like this:

  • Application
  • Financial Aid
  • Advising

Avoid using respective links names like this:

  • Graduate students: Application,
  • Graduate students: Financial Aid, or
  • Graduate students: Advising.

Solutions

  • Make link names unique. Avoid repetitions.
