Slide Title and Name Consistency in Storyline

Last updated: 5/28/2025

There are three locations within Storyline where a slide's title/name can be programmatically defined. Consistently using the same slide title/name across these three locations — as well as anywhere else within the eCourse the slide is referenced — will help avoid uncertainty and ensure that all learners can easily identify, differentiate and re-navigate to slides as needed:

  1. The in-slide slide title
  2. The slide name as established in the Scene pane or Story View

    • This name will typically be automatically populated from the slide title you enter into a slide's title text box, but it can also be independently edited
    • Screen reader users will encounter this slide name if they read backwards from the slide area
    • Screen reader focus may sometimes land on this slide name when users navigate from slide to slide or interact with certain elements or layers
    • To edit this name, double-click it or right-click on the slide thumbnail and choose Rename from the resulting context menu
  3. The slide title as it appears in the slide Menu (if the slide is present in the Menu)
    • This name will typically be automatically populated from the slide title/name defined elsewhere, but it can also be independently edited
    • You can edit Menu entries through the Menu tab in the Player Properties panel
