Training Related to Safety, Security & Building

There are several types of trainings available to familiarize employees with the various safety and security procedures utilized at UCOP. Below you can find an overview of common trainings but this list may not be exhaustive. For more information on trainings please contact the Work Management Center at (510) 987-0600.

 

Building Familiarity Safety Training

This training aims to orient employees with the building’s features such as bathrooms, exits, kitchens, etc.; as well as specific health and safety features such as fire extinguisher, AED, oxygen packs, and first aid kit locations.

Physical Safety Training

UC, Berkeley Police department’s Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), coordinates and delivers presentations and other general outreach efforts.The officers can be scheduled to meet with groups or participate in events and provide safety and security information as needed.CPU staff can also help identify other resources and authorities that might be appropriate and beneficial for any particular outreach need.

R.A.I.N. Active Shooter Training (Intellicenter Based)

Twice a year, at Intellicenter, the UC Riverside Police Department offer a training course where they cover how to best respond in an active shooter situation, as well as what you can expect from responding police officers.

AED/CPR Training

This training course covers how and when to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and earns you a two-year certification in AED/CPR. In-person, virtual and blended options are available.

Fire Extinguisher Training

This brief 5-minute course provides an introduction to using a portable fire extinguisher and is available to employees as needed. This course covers the common types of fires as well as the PASS technique for using a fire extinguisher.
