The Pension & Retirement Programs unit is responsible for research, policy development, benefit design and costing, and support for fiduciary oversight for the University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP) and the Retirement Savings Program (RSP) plans: the Defined Contribution Plan, the Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan, and the 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. Responsibilities also include the actuarial valuation and contribution policy for the UC Retiree Health Benefit Program; and the periodic updating of the UCRP and RSP plan documents.
Members provide staff support for the University of California Retirement System Advisory Board and serve as consultants and subject matter experts to Academic Senate, staff, and retiree committees; senior management; unions; and location HR professionals. Our goal, as part of the HR Strategic Plan, is to ensure that UC post-employment benefits remain competitive as well as financially sustainable.
