Technology commercialization

UC’s technology commercialization system has developed into a distributed institutional network of ten university campuses which operate under a common policy framework and share resources. However, each campus office functions relatively independently of the others. Their common goal, together with I&E Innovation Services, is to aid the campus research, education and public service missions. Each office performs some or all of the following tasks: commercializes UC intellectual property rights; facilitates research collaborations with industry; advances UC entrepreneurship; protects UC’s interests by managing risk; promotes economic growth in California. Direct contact between campus technology managers and researchers actively engages UC inventors in the technology commercialization process.
