PROJECT

Incorporating Agricultural Sustainability Into Courses Taught at UCLA

DESCRIPTION

Jessica’s project will explore the agricultural side of food studies in order to incorporate sustainability into the courses taught at UCLA. Having founded the student organization SNAC (www.snacucla.com) in 2015, she’s placing a special focus on campus outreach projects to encourage nutrition and sustainable eating. Through a partnership with Pyur Solutions (www.pyursolutions.com), a UCLA startup that develops non-toxic, biodegradable, plant-based agricultural solutions (i.e. pesticides, herbicides and fungicides), she will explore the advantages of utilizing eco-friendly chemicals in the agro-industry and how organic produce translates into positive impacts for human nutrition and the environment.
