Project

Optimizing a Therapeutic Food Pantry at San Francisco General Hospital with Patient Perspectives on Food Insecurity

Description

I developed a scholarly approach for identifying patient perspectives on food insecurity that will be used in the development of the San Francisco General Hospital Therapeutic Food Pantry. The project included patient surveys and focus groups on food access, barriers to healthy eating, motivation to receive fresh produce and prepare food at home, and personal reflections on food insecurity.

Goals

The purpose of this project is to explore patient perspectives at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) regarding food insecurity with the goal of informing future policy at the SFGH Therapeutic Food Pantry.

Future Plans

My involvement with this project is now complete. I will graduate from the UCSF School of Medicine in May 2015.
