Project

Leveraging Research for Policy Change

Description

I am interviewing and profiling faculty and researchers at UC Berkeley who have had an impact on food and agriculture policy. Through this work, I am helping to identify best practices and common challenges for academics working to inspire decision makers to action, and to guide or assess policy implementation. Case studies range from soil ecology and school lunches to pesticides and pollinators.

Goals

Make UC Berkeley faculty more aware of one another’s food- and agriculture-related research and policy work. Share best practices in bridging research to policy. Make faculty and researchers aware of the Global Food Initiative.

Future Plans

I am extending the fellowship into the summer to coordinate the collection of similar stories from other UC campuses and synthesize their style and best practices.
