PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Repurposing organic matter as a compost soil amendment on California grasslands can actively sequester new carbon, in addition to reducing emissions associated with landfill disposal. Anaya’sresearch seeks to critically evaluate the feasibility and anticipated abatement costs of using composted municipally-generated organic waste as a soil amendment to both meet state-level diversion requirements and sequester carbon in California rangelands.
