Ines Galmiche

CNI Fellow Class of 2018

CNI Fellow
Undergraduate Student, Sociology with a concentration in Global Information and Social Enterprise
UC Santa Cruz

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ines will be a senior in fall of 2017/18 and is pursuing a degree in Sociology with a concentration in Global Information and Social Enterprise.  She is currently working with the Everett Program, a center dedicated to educating and inspiring UCSC students to use digital tools and social entrepreneurship skills to advance social justice and promote sustainability. Ines is developing an app called Conifr, which automatically tracks individuals' transportation-related carbon emissions based on their modes and routes of travel, and then allows users to mitigate emissions by purchasing offsets. During this Fellowship, Ines will lead her team of students and solicit input from mentors to fully develop and deploy the app.  Ines plans to coordinate with other Fellows both on the UCSC campus and systemwide to develop the functionality in this app to support the Carbon Neutrality Initiative and support engagement initiatives such as the Cool Campus Challenge.
