Carbon Neutrality Student Engagement Report

Description

In April 2015, the carbon neutrality fellows at UC Berkeley worked to gauge student knowledge of and participation in the UC system 2025 Carbon Neutrality Initiative. We used surveys and presentations to reach over 100 students and recorded their knowledge and interest in the initiative. We devised recommendations based on these results about how to foster further engagement in campus carbon neutrality.

Goals

Our goal was to gauge student knowledge of the UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative. We identified a low level of knowledge and made recommendations for further student engagement based on our experiences with students.

Future Plans

Our project led us to the conclusion that major steps need to be taken in order for students to engage in the initiative. Through student involvement, the initiative can rise in importance among administration and eventually become a reality. We outlined further steps in our report, and I would love to play a part in bringing some of these ideas to Berkeley.
