History

Coming together in 2017, UC Alumni Lupe Gallegos-Díaz and Neptaly “Taty” Aguilera, Caroline Cabias, and Francisco Hernandez began to convene as thought partners to bring together the formation of a statewide UC Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association (CLAA) to address UC systemwide Latinx issues.

On June 11, 2021, the statewide UC CLAA was officially recognized as the first Alumni affinity constituency association by UC President Michael V. Drake, MD. The announcement was made by UC Alumni Regents, Debby Stegura & Art Torres, on June 12, 2021, at the UC CLAA Summit Meeting hosted by the Chican@/Latinx Alumni Network at UC Santa Barbara.

For five years UC CLAA has brought together the statewide UC campus Latinx alumni associations on quarterly Summit Meetings to engage and build statewide networks with the other UC CLAA campus groups in a collective effort to advocate and address UC Latinx issues systemwide.
