UC ADVANCE PAID Program

Helping campuses recruit, retain and advance women and underrepresented minority women faculty in STEM fields.

UC ADVANCE PAID, a program sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), leverages the 10-campus structure at UC to enable campuses to recruit, retain and advance more women and underrepresented minority women faculty in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Academic Personnel at UCOP has been awarded one of four grants allocated to the University of California.

These grants will enable us to gather and analyze faculty search data to understand why the number of women and underrepresented minorities hired continues to lag availability and how to build on success and best practices. We will then convene faculty and academic administrators to build a stronger cross-campus community and establish STEM recruitment and retention as a standard part of diversity conversations.
