My Vision Coverage

Eye exams, frames, and contacts, oh my! Vision care can be expensive. But it’s important to keep your eyes sharp. (You’ll need them for all that studying!) UC SHIP vision coverage, provided through Anthem Blue View Vision Insight, can help you see clearly, and at a price you can afford.

Two steps to getting vision care

  1. When you need vision care, visit the student health center (SHC) Optometry Clinic or find a network Anthem Blue View Vision Insight provider. (Note: Optometry Clinics are available at the Davis, Santa Cruz, San Diego, and Los Angeles campuses.) It takes just a minute to put more money into your pocket — money you can use for lots of other pressing needs.
  2. Locating providers within Anthem's network
Anthem contracting providers can be located on Anthem’s website, www.anthem.com/ca, by following the navigational steps below:

    • Choose Menu
    • Select Find a Doctor in the center column labelled Care
    • Scroll down to the section labelled Search as Guest, and choose Search by Selecting a Plan or Network
    • Under What type of care are you searching for?, select Vision
    • Under What state do you want to search in, select California
    • Under Select a plan/network, click on the drop down menu, type “UCSHIP,” and click Continue
    • On the following page, please select the details of provider specialty and location for which you would like to search.

Tip! Before you say “yes” to your next purchase, check to see that it’s included in the Vision Benefits table on the Anthem Blue View Vision site, or call Anthem Blue View Vision at (866) 940-8306.

Your UC SHIP Vision Benefits
Be sure to make the most of your coverage. UC SHIP covers a greater portion of your fees when you get exams, glasses or lenses from a provider in the Anthem Blue View Vision Insight network. You will find the details of the plan in the Blue View Vision Plan booklet (English) (Spanish)
