2015 Awards

The University of California is pleased to announce the results of the 2014-15 UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI) competition.

2015 MRPI Awards

The 2014 Request for Proposals for UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives awards generated 186 eligible applications, totaling over $273 million in total funding requests. Due to budgetary constraints, only 11% of proposals could be funded, and we were unable to award many excellent proposals. We awarded twenty outstanding proposals, totaling over $24 million over four years, in this highly selective competition. These awards represent a broad range of research and scholarship, and support both new and existing collaborations aimed at strengthening UC's research enterprise and benefiting UC and California. Collaborations represent genuine engagement among faculty, staff and students across all 10 campuses.

One of five subject area expert panels reviewed and ranked each application, and a Portfolio Review panel made recommendations to overall funding priorities consistent with the goals and objectives of the MRPI program.
