Report on Fall 2008 California Community College Transfer Admissions
The University of California campuses offered admission to 17,513 transfer students from California Community Colleges for fall 2008, a 6.3 percent increase compared with the previous fall term. This increase parallels the 8 percent increase in applications from California Community College transfer students for the fall term and reflects the University’s commitment to a strong transfer function in California. In addition to the fall term admits, several campuses will offer admission to additional applicants from California Community Colleges for the winter/spring 2009 term.
The number of underrepresented students (African American, American Indian and Chicano/Latinos) offered admission increased slightly, led by a 4.6 percent increase in offers to Chicano/Latino students. The number of underrepresented students offered admission to the University has increased just over 75 percent since 1998.
