Report on Fall 2006 California Community College Transfer Admissions
The University of California campuses offered admission to 16,620 transfer students from California Community Colleges for Fall 2006, a 2.4 percent increase over the 2005 number. This marks the eighth consecutive year of universitywide growth in the number of transfer students offered admission, and represents a 51.3 percent increase in the number of California Community College applicants offered admission between 1998 and 2006.
Underrepresented students (African American, American Indian and Chicano/Latinos) increased slightly as a proportion of the total admitted transfer class, from 19 percent in 2005 to 19.9 percent in 2006. Mirroring the overall upward trend of California Community College admits, the growth in the number of underrepresented transfer students offered admission represents an 85.8 percent increase in admissions offers since 1998.
