Administrative
and Financial Services: Personnel and Payroll
The University Affairs Personnel Services Unit
provides management and oversight required to maintain efficient,
high quality personnel support for all University Affairs departments
and clients. Working with University Affairs department personnel
assistants and acting as liaison with UCOP Human Resources and Benefits
and UCLA Personnel and Payroll Services, the Unit is responsible
for administering all aspects of the personnel, payroll and benefits
programs for the division.
University Affairs Maximum Vacation Accrual
Policy
The UCLA system and University policy allows
for vacation accrual up to 4 months past the maximum accrual when
there is a legitimate business need that will not allow an employee
to take vacation leave. Maximum accrual varies depending upon earning
rate and is calculated at two times the annual full-time earning
rate (ex. 10 hrs/mo X 24 months = 240 max; 12 = 288; 14 = 336; 16
= 384).
University Affairs has implemented an internal
notification process that will inform supervisors when an employee
is nearing their maximum accrual. An exception up to 4 additional
months can be made if the supervisor justifies the immediate business
need AND explains why the employee has been unable to schedule vacation
in the preceding months. An employee's personal decision not to
take the time off IS NOT justification for extending the maximum
accrual.
