Nomination Process

The Chancellors and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Director nominate participants for the UCSLI program from a broad range of functional areas and backgrounds. In identifying participants, equal opportunity for full participation by all members of the University community is taken into consideration. Participants will be asked to submit biographical information.

UCSLI participants typically are academic and administrative leaders with decision-making authority. The curriculum is designed for individuals with significant responsibility and experience. Participants are members of the Senior Management Group (SMG) or the Management and Senior Professional (MSP) Program, hold key academic administrative positions, or direct scientific programs at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Leaders who are new to the University or new to their leadership role should be encouraged to apply.

Participants

UCSLI participants typically hold the following titles:

  • Chancellor
  • Vice President/Associate Vice President/Assistant Vice President
  • Vice Chancellor/Associate Vice Chancellor/Assistant Vice Chancellor
  • Provost/Associate Provost/Assistant Provost
  • Dean/Associate Dean/Assistant Dean
  • Department Chair
  • Academic Administrator/Academic Senate Division Chair
  • Librarian
  • Executive Director/Director (functional area)
  • University Counsel
  • Controller/Financial Officer
  • Special Assistant

Participation is limited to approximately 55 individuals systemwide. Each location is provided a limited number of participant slots. Locations are encouraged to select alternates in the event that a nominee is unable to attend.
