The Institute

The University of California Senior Leadership Institute (UCSLI) is one of the University’s key leadership development programs that is designed to help build a strong and diverse leadership across the University. The Institute is a significant component of the University’s program of leadership identification, development and succession planning.

UCSLI provides an opportunity for a select group of academic and administrative leaders from the campuses, medical centers, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Office of the President to learn about the complex factors involved in decision-making at the University; to think strategically about the critical issues facing higher education and the University of California in particular; and to gain insight into their individual leadership strengths.

UCSLI Objectives

The UCSLI program objectives include:
  • Providing an interactive orientation to University governance and institutional priorities
  • Enhancing accountability for ethical business practices
  • Fostering partnerships and sharing knowledge across academic and administrative channels
  • Preparing and supporting leaders for success in meeting the present and future challenges facing UC through experiential learning and leadership skills development
