Commitments and Follow-up
UCSLI is a challenging residential program, and participants should come prepared to make a commitment of personal time and effort to make the learning experience meaningful. In addition to the 41/2 days spent at the Institute, participants will be asked to complete some pre-conference assignments. As alumni of the program, they will participate in the process of orienting the next class of participants. They will guide and affect the on-going efforts of the Institute and will be invited to attend one or two day events that are part of their continued professional development.
Environment
UCSLI will be held at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego. The hotel is on a 40-acre island tucked away on Mission Bay, minutes from the heart of San Diego. Paradise Point is approximately six miles from the San Diego airport.
Dress at the Institute is primarily casual because of the informal classroom surroundings. Participants can choose to dress more formally for evening receptions and dinners with special guests.
The Institute is designed so that participants meet in small groups as well as in larger groups for presentations. Small group discussions and teams convene on a regular basis to discuss case studies. Time is allotted for informal group meetings during the day and evening hours. The program includes dinner speakers for each night except Wednesday. Because the program requires much of the participants’ time throughout the 4 1/2 days, family members cannot be accommodated at the Institute.
Tuition
The tuition includes hotel accommodations, all meals during the 4 1/2 days, all classroom materials, and scheduled group events. The tuition for each participant is recharged to the participant’s location, and the location is responsible for covering participants’ travel expenses. |
