                    QUARTERLY REPORT OF PRIVATE SUPPORT


The Quarterly Report is intended to provide periodic information
to The Regents on University private-support activity.  Informa-
tion copies of the Report are provided to each campus Private
Support Management Office after data are compiled.  Campuses are
asked to submit data to Development Policy and Administration,
Office of the President, on a quarterly basis approximately as
follows:

Campus figures should be divided into three categories:  (1) Pri-
vate support to The Regents; (2) private support to the campus
foundation; and (3) the combined total of the two, reflecting the
total support to the campus.  The figures given for private
support to The Regents should reflect the total of all private
support (including both gifts and private grants, but excluding
contracts) that was intended by the donors or grantors for The
Regents, as recorded in the campus record-keeping system for the
quarter.  The figures given should include pledges but exclude
pledge payments.

The figures given for private support to the campus foundation
should reflect the total of all private support (including both
gifts and private grants, but excluding contracts) that was
intended by the donors or grantors for the campus foundation as
recorded in the campus record-keeping system for the quarter. 
The figures given should include pledges but exclude pledge
payments.

Donations made to University support groups are not per se re-
flected in the Quarterly Report; such support is reflected at the
time the support group transfers funds (i.e., makes a donation
to) The Regents or the Campus Foundation.
