Chapter V. Requirements for Reporting Gifts
*************************************************************
OVERVIEW
Chapter V provides information about several reports regarding
gifts to the University prepared by Development Policy and
Administration from information that is supplied by the campuses.
These include:
- the Major Donors List, prepared on a monthly basis and
presented in summary form as part of the "A" Report at
each Regents' business meeting;
- the Quarterly Report of Private Support, also prepared for
The Regents;
- the Annual Report prepared for The Regents;
- the Council for Aid to Education (CFAE) Survey of
Voluntary Support of Education; and
- the Brakeley, John Price Jones report on Higher Education
and American Philanthropy (prepared from the same figures
submitted for the CFAE survey).
In 1982, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education
(CASE), together with the National Association of College and
University Business Officers (NACUBO), issued a publication
entitled Management Reporting Standards for Educational Institu-
tions: Fund Raising and Related Activities. The intention of
this publication was to establish classifications for gift
reporting that would standardize the reporting of fund-raising
results from institution to institution.
The CFAE Report employs these definitions, which apply to all
gifts and private grants, and the University has adapted them for
the Annual Report. These required classifications, as well as
those used for internal reporting purposes, are explained in Sec-
tion V: B. Campuses are asked to maintain data regarding gifts
and private grants in accordance within these classifications.
Descriptions of the individual reports follow in Section V: C.
