On July 3,
2008, Vice Provost Jewell issued a letter clarifying
the application of APM
- 080 to Postdoctoral Scholars.
July 2, 2008
On July
1, 2008, Executive Vice President Lapp issued the
revised nondiscrimination policies with a technical
change. These policies replace previous issuance by
the President on June 10, 2008.
June 18, 2008
Technical Changes:
On May 1, 2007, the newly created position of Executive
Vice President - Business Operations assumed responsibility
for implementation of the Policy
on Accepting Equity When Licensing University Technology,
with the elimination of the Senior Vice President -
Business & Finance position within the organizational
structure of the Office of the President.
The Policy has been updated to reflect this reorganization.
June 13, 2008
Added:
The President has approved a Two -Year Renewal of
the Policy on the Supplement to Military Pay, effective
July 1, 2008.
The University
of California Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action
Employment Policies have been revised to provide
consistency with recently published regulations that
implement the Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002 (JVA). These
revisions are effective July 1, 2008.
Similar policy revisions will be incorporated into
Academic Personnel Policy 035, Affirmative Action and
Nondiscrimination in Employment, shortly after issuance
of these policies.

Policy Statement for University of California Publications
Regarding Student-Related Matters dated January 1, 2004
is undergoing review.

Action Employment Policies issued on December 18, 2003.

Added:
Revised Academic Personnel Policy 710 on Leaves of
Absence/Sick Leave/Medical Leave, a New Academic Personnel
Policy 711 on Reasonable Accommodation for Academic
Appointees with Disabilities, and a New Academic Personnel
Policy 080 on Medical Separation, effective July 1,
2008.
Technical Changes:

with the elimination of the Senior Vice President --
Business & Finance position within the organizational
structure of the Office of the President. On August
13, 2007, responsibility for the implementation of the
University Patent Policy was transferred to the Provost
and Executive Vice President -- Academic and Health
Affairs in conjunction with the transfer of the overall
responsibility for the University's technology transfer
program. The Patent Policy
has been updated to reflect this reorganization.
Campus Oath and Patent forms may contain a reference
to the Senior Vice President--Business and Finance as
the administrator responsible for the Patent Policy.
Please replace that title with the new title when new
forms are made available for campus use.

The University of California
Policy on Reporting and Investigating Allegations of
Suspected Improper Governmental Activities (the "Whistleblower
Policy") was revised on April 2, 2008 to reflect
responsibilities of the Senior Vice President, Chief
Compliance and Audit Officer. The revised Policy replaces
the earlier version of the "Whistleblower Policy"
dated October 4, 2002. Please note that the University
of California Policy for the Protection of Whistleblowers
from Retaliation and Guidelines for Reviewing Retaliation
Complaints (the "Whistleblower
Protection Policy") dated October 4, 2002 is
still in effect.
Also added is a letter dated March
28, 2001 from Senior Vice President Mullinix concerning
the designation of the last Friday of March as Cesar
Chavez day.
