Revised Academic Personnel Policies 740 on Sabbatical Leave and 758 on Other Leaves with Pay

Enclosed are revised Academic Personnel Policy 740 on Sabbatical Leave and a revised Academic Personnel Policy 758 on Other Leaves with Pay, both effective September 30, 2003. These revisions follow from changes made to Regents' policy at the July 2003 meeting, and changes made to Standing Order 103.4 of The Regents at their September 2003 meeting.

The three major revisions are the following:

• As an exception to policy, a faculty member will be allowed to substitute significant University service for some or all of the teaching requirement for a sabbatical in residence.
  
  
• Recipients of a sabbatical leave at less than full salary will be allowed to receive additional compensation for research from another university.
  
  
• As part of the policy on other leaves with pay (APM - 758), a faculty member who holds a full-time administrative position for five years or more will be allowed to take an administrative leave immediately after that service. This leave will be in lieu of a sabbatical leave.
