Dear Colleagues:
Pursuant to our discussion during the July 6th Council of Chancellors meeting, I am reissuing the attached policy statement promulgated by then-President Hitch on October 11, 1968, which provides that "...the University has not taken any position, nor does it intend to, on the marketing of California grapes...." The policy further provides that "[t]he furnishing of specific food products may be discontinued only if, in the judgment of those responsible on each campus, there is not sufficient demand to make continued service economical."
