CHANCELLORS
LABORATORY DIRECTORS
MEMBERS, EXPANDED PRESIDENT'S ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL
Dear Colleagues:
An increasing number of commercial publishers are offering to provide to the University, without charge, certain publications normally printed at University expense in return for the University's permission to use its name in the sale of advertising. Institutional practice for many years has been not to accept such offers, and this will reaffirm that practice. Official publications of the University--those of an informational or administrative nature used in the conduct of routine activities, including maps, guides, directories, catalogs, departmental announcements, and schedules of classes--should not contain commercial advertising.
Sincerely,
David S. Saxon
President
