CHANCELLORS
Dear Colleagues:
I am formally transmitting the new Health Sciences Compensation Plan approved by The Regents and the associated Guidelines on Occasional Outside Professional Activities by Health Sciences Compensation Plan Participants.
Campuses should submit to Provost King for approval by July 1, 2000, proposed new procedures or revisions to existing procedures to implement, at a minimum, the Plan policy on base salary and related benefits (see Plan Sections IV.B, and V.A.). Proposed campus procedures to implement the entirety of the new Plan and Guidelines should be submitted to Provost King by no later than November 15, 2000. Complete implementation should be accomplished by January 1, 2001. The principles and procedures which have governed the administration of Academic Programmatic Units, health sciences salary scales, and contributions to the Reserve Fund on behalf of UCRP covered compensation under the Medical School Clinical Compensation plan shall continue to apply under the new Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
The enclosed Plan and Guidelines can also be found online at: http://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel/_files/apm/s4-670.html.
Campus staff may contact Coordinator Deborah Brennan at (510) 987-9482 for assistance with questions as they draft their implementing procedures.
Sincerely,
Richard C. Atkinson
President
