CHANCELLORS
LABORATORY DIRECTORS
VICE PRESIDENT–AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES
Dear Colleagues:
Revised Guidelines on Intercampus Recruiting
Enclosed are the revised Guidelines on Intercampus Recruiting for ladder rank faculty. The Guidelines have been revised to emphasize that the Chancellor of the recruiting campus must notify the other Chancellor of the intention to make the offer to a faculty member at the earliest possible opportunity. The Chancellor of the recruiting campus is to provide written information concerning the details of the offer -- financial or otherwise and regardless of fund source -- including the proposed salary, any stipends or summer ninths, teaching responsibilities and other recruitment incentives, as soon as such information is available. The Guidelines also clarify the salary level that may be offered to a faculty member by the recruiting campus. The Guidelines shall be used in conjunction with the timing provisions of Academic Personnel Policy 510, Intercampus Transfers.
Please ensure that these Guidelines are distributed annually to deans, department chairs, directors, and other administrators who are involved in the intercampus recruitment of ladder rank faculty. Broad dissemination will assist in limiting misunderstandings associated with intercampus recruitment offers.
These Guidelines are effective immediately, and supersede the Guidelines on Intercampus Recruiting dated July 21, 1997. They are published in the Academic Personnel Manual as APM - 510B and may be found online at: http://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel/_files/apm/s3-510b.html.
Sincerely,
Richard C. Atkinson
President
