CHANCELLORS
Dear Colleagues:
At the December 3, 1986 meeting of the Council of Chancellors, we discussed an increase in the Undergraduate Acceptance of Admission Fee from $50 to $100 effective for applicants applying for Fall 1988. This fee, commonly called the Statement of Intention to Register (SIR) fee, is an advance on the undergraduate registration fee. The increase is particularly important in light of increasing enrollment pressures, and was unanimously recommended by the Task Force on Admissions Practices and Processes at the request of Admissions Directors. In accordance with our discussion at the Council of Chancellors, I have approved the recommended increase. As you know this increase will not affect disadvantaged students because they continue to qualify for deferral or waiver of the SIR fee. The fee increase will be reflected in the 1988-89 admission publications and Student Fees and Deposits Circular.
Sincerely,
David Pierpont Gardner
