Delegation of Authority--Administrative Actions Related to the University of California Retirement Plan, the Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan, and the Defined Contribution Plan

The Regents have granted authority to the President to administer the University of California Retirement Plan (Article 11.01), the Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan (Article 6.01), and the Defined Contribution Plan (Article 5.01). The President has the right to delegate administrative duties with regard to the management and operation of the Plan.

As Senior Vice President--Business and Finance, you are hereby delegated the following authorities with respect to the above-named Plans:

1. Approval of Plan language in instances when prior approval has been granted by The Regents and implementation of the applicable provisions has been delegated to the President, or to the President with the concurrence of either or both the Chairman of the Board and the Chair of the Committee on Finance;
   
   
2. The authority to make all decisions relating to the payment or non-payment of disability income;
   
   
3. The authority to determine administrative costs of the Plans; and
   
   
4. The authority to make determinations in matters of conflict regarding the amount or payment of survivor income, or whether a safety Member's death is job-related.

Any of the above authorities may be redelegated by you to specific designees but may not be further redelegated. Such redelegation shall be in writing with copies to the Special Assistant--Coordination and Review and the General Counsel of The Regents.

This delegation supersedes Delegation of Authority 0824 dated December 4, 1984.
