Under Standing Order of The Regents 100.4(dd), the President is authorized to execute on behalf of the Corporation all contracts and other documents necessary in the exercise of the President's duties, including documents to solicit and accept pledges, gifts, and grants. On March 10, 1995, the Chancellors were delegated the authority to solicit and accept extramural grants and contracts for research not exceeding $5,000,000 in direct costs in any one project year (DA 2036).
As of September 30, 2001, an award first issued by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to the University of Chicago was transferred to the University of California, San Francisco. The current five-year award is in the amount of $134,746,641, for a project entitled "Immune Tolerance Network." Effective immediately, as Chancellor of the San Francisco campus, you are authorized to solicit and execute any amendments, modifications, or renewals subsequent to the initial award provided the general intent and purpose of the program remain unchanged from those originally approved.
Any redelegation of this authority shall be in writing, with copies to the Senior Vice President--Business and Finance, the Special Assistant--Coordination & Review, and the General Counsel and Vice President for Legal Affairs.
