* In addition, the Governor and the Legislature agreed to 1) transfer $13.9 million from the Department of Education to UC's budget for the Subject Matter Projects and the MESA Program and 2) provide an additional $56.4 million in Proposition 99 funds for the Tobacco-Related Diseases Research Program. These funds were being held in reserve pending court action.
