CHANCELLORS
Dear Colleagues:
We are forwarding the President's Guidelines for Implementation of University Policy on Undergraduate Admissions and the University
of California Policy on Undergraduate Admissions by Exception in final form. As you know, both documents will replace the existing
guidelines and policy and will be effective beginning with students enrolling in the University for the Spring quarter 1998, and for the
Fall term 1998 for the Berkeley campus, which is on the semester system. Each campus will develop its own campus-based criteria
within the framework of these guidelines, to be reviewed by the President's Office prior to implementation.
Thank you for providing invaluable help in shaping the enclosed documents. Please extend our thanks to those persons on your staff
and faculty who have been instrumental in making these new guidelines and policy a reality.
Sincerely,
Richard C. Atkinson
