UC Senior Vice President Names Members of Systemwide Housing Task Force

The 20 task force members represent campuses, faculty, students, UC Board of Regents and local communities.

Mullinix has asked the task force to:

  • Consider the extent of demand for university sponsored housing;

  • Examine the current process for university construction and building of residence halls and apartments on campus;

  • Study ways the university can work with third parties more frequently to provide housing;

  • Study ways of providing financial assistance to those who purchase homes so that the initial purchase and monthly payments are affordable.
"My hope is that the task force members will bring new perspectives and fresh thinking to this longstanding problem," Mullinix said. "The members all possess a high degree of background knowledge and expertise, along with a high energy level."

S. Sue Johnson, regents' chair, will co-chair the task force along with Mullinix.
