How often does the BOI take place and when is the next Institute?
The Business Officer Institute takes place once a year.
Who pays for my attendance at the BOI including the hotel, food, and travel?
The Office of the President covers all the program and meal costs of the The Business Officer Institute for the participants, which includes breakfasts, lunches and breaks, as well as the Opening Dinner on Monday night. The participant's locations are expected to cover the cost of travel, hotel, parking and dinners on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. To help minimize travel costs, sessions are offered alternately in northern and southern California.
Will I be expected to attend every session?
BOI provides a sequenced curriculum of lectures and small-group activities. Attendance is required at all sessions. If you must miss a session, please inform your group facilitator. Certificates will only be issued to participants who successfully complete the whole program.
Has a room been reserved for me at the hotel?
No. Once you have registered for BOI via the online form, you will need to contact the hotel directly to reserve a room for the conference.
Do I have to share a room?
No, each participant may have his or her own room accomodated. If you would like to share a room with another participant, please make arrangements with the hotel.
Are vegetarian or other special dietary meals provided?
Yes. You should indicate vegetarian meals on the registration form, and indicate any other special dietary or access needs in the space provided under "other needs."
I have special access needs. How will they be met?
Indicate any access needs in the "Additional Information" section of the registration form.
What time does the Institute begin and end?
The introduction to the Program and Opening Dinner begins on Monday. The Program officially ends on Thursday.
How should I dress?
Dress for the BOI is business casual and we recommend that you prepare your dress attire for termperatures that may vary in the hotel throughout the day.
Who are the Program Coordinators?
The Program Coordinators, who also act as facilitators are drawn from past participants in the BOI and also include Business Officers, Controllers, and Training and Development staff.
I can't attend BOI in October. When is the next one?
The BOI event Is a four-day residential institute that alternates between the Northern and Southern California regions anually. Details for the 2014 event will be provided next year. If you have any more questions about registering for the BOI, contact your campus representative.
