Kristine (Kris) Hafner
was appointed Associate Vice President, Information Resources and Communications and Chief Information Officer at University of California Office of the President in March, 2003. In this capacity, she oversees IT services and support for Office of the President and selected campuses, and coordinates system-wide information technology and policy-related initiatives at the University. In her previous roles at UCOP, Hafner served as Deputy to the Senior Vice President, Business and Finance and as Director, Business Initiatives and in those capacities led University-wide strategic planning and business improvement efforts, including the New Business Architecture and the Partnership for Performance balanced scorecard initiative. Prior to joining the University of California in 1997, Hafner spent fifteen years at IBM, managing large systems marketing activities in the Midwest region, and managing and performing strategic business consulting engagements with private and public sector clients in a variety of industries in the United States. Hafner completed her PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and then pursued MBA coursework at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Graduate Business School.
