Transfer Admission Programs — UC Davis

Transfer Opportunity Program
The Transfer Opportunity Program (TOP) encourages community college students to transfer to UC Davis and provides support services to ease their transition. The cornerstone of the program is the top transfer adviser, who regularly visits each participating community college to work with counselors and students.

The TOP adviser provides information about admission and transfer requirements, academic programs, financial aid, housing, tutoring, campus life, and other services and programs. The adviser evaluates student transcripts to ensure that admission requirements are met and that community college courses taken are transferable to the University. The TOP adviser also works with counselors and students to develop individual transfer admission agreements.

Participating community colleges:
American River, Cosumnes River, DeAnza, Folsom Lake, Foothill, Laney, Los Medanos, Napa Valley, Sacramento City, City College of San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Rosa, Sierra, Skyline and Solano Community.

Transfer Admission Guarantees

A Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) is a formal, written agreement guaranteeing transfer admission to UC Davis for a specific academic year in the student’s chosen major. Written a year before transferring as a junior, the TAG defines specific community college coursework and grade point average requirements that must be achieved to guarantee transfer admission to UC Davis. Once a TAG is written, the student, his or her community college counselor and a UC Davis representative sign the agreement. Providing that the student meets all terms of the agreement and applies for admission during the specified application filing period, the signed TAG is a formal, binding agreement.

Fall Quarter Transfer Admission Guarantees

Fall Quarter TAGs are available at all California community colleges. Signed TAGs for fall quarter must be submitted to UC Davis during the month of September. Students interested in a fall quarter TAG should meet with their community college counselor near the close of their freshman year: between May and the first week of September one year prior to their planned transfer date. Once a community college counselor has established the student’s eligibility for the TAG program, an agreement will be drafted to guarantee transfer to UC Davis with junior-class standing.

Winter Quarter Transfer Admission Guarantees

Winter Quarter TAGs may also be available to students attending Transfer Opportunity Program (TOP) colleges and Regional Education Alliance for Completing Higher Education (REACH) colleges, though opportunities vary annually. REACH is a consortium of colleges promoting higher education in California’s north state region. REACH colleges participating in the winter quarter TAG program include: Butte College, College of the Redwoods, College of the Siskiyous, Feather River College, Lake Tahoe Community College, Lassen College, Mendocino College and Shasta College.
