Teacher Education Using Instructional Technologies
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR:
  Copeland, Willis (UCSB)
CAMPUSES:
  UCI and UCSB
DESCRIPTION:
Pedagogical Concern: UCI and UCSB teacher education programs use electronic portfolios and online mediated discussions for teacher training, and yet these tools are customized for each campus and cannot be shared.
Planning Strategy: Faculty at UCI and UCSB will convene a meeting for representatives from all UC Teacher Education Programs to explore the feasibility of making various IT applications for teacher training available across the system.

  Meyers, Frederick (UCD)
CAMPUSES:
  UCD, UCLA, and UCSF
DESCRIPTION:
Pedagogical Concern: AB 487 requires that physicians and surgeons complete a course in pain management and the treatment of terminally ill and dying patients. There are insufficient hours of instruction in palliative care available to students in UC medical schools.
Planning Strategy: Faculty at UCD School of Medicine will contact faculty at UCLA and UCSF to discuss interest in developing Web-based training modules in palliative care that could be shared among the campuses.
