Strategy:
The Calibrated Peer Review (CPR),
a web-based instructional tool for
online peer review of students'
written assignments, has been used
in life science and chemistry courses
at UCLA. Chapman and his colleagues
will extend the use of this tool
into courses in Life Science core
courses and engineering at UCLA
and in introductory and advanced
chemistry courses at UCR.
Target Audience: Faculty,
graduate students, and undergraduate

Virtual Research I and II at UCI
have provided online instructional
materials to 6,000 undergraduates
enrolled in the Humanities Core
Course (HHC) and Argument and Research
(WR39C) to improve their research
skills. Proposers plan to build
on, complete, and regularize the
resources into stand-alone models
to be available to other UCI composition
courses and UC campuses through
SPIDER: Shared Pedagogical Initiative,
a web-based archive of instructional
materials.

to serve as a think-tank and a publisher
and disseminator of recommended
teaching tools and practices. In
the second year, UCD, UCI, UCR will
be partners. Work on conceptualizing
and developing content for the online
site has been done.
