|
Building Systems and Maintenance
|
| |
Heating/air conditioning
The building's temperature control system has been designed
with your comfort in mind. To ensure consistent and
pleasant temperatures and to eliminate hot and cold
spots, each floor is divided into 30 zones, each with
its own thermostat.
The thermostats have been set in accordance with energy
conservation guidelines. Please do not adjust them yourself.
|
|
| |
Lighting
The building's lighting system provides the latest in
convenience and energy efficiency. Motion sensors in
the rooms and halls automatically turn lights on when
you enter and turn them off during periods of inactivity.
There is no need for you to turn lighting on and off
in your work areas. Of course, you can turn the lights
in offices and conference rooms on and off manually,
thus overriding the automatic sensors.
|
|
| |
Recycling
All building waste will automatically go to the recycler
for sorting, regardless of whether it is put in a special
bin. However, food, food wrappers, and other wet waste
should be placed in the plastic-lined containers that
are located in the kitchens, copy rooms, and elsewhere
in the building. These items are not recyclable.
Copier fluid, ink cartridges, batteries, and correction
fluid products should be placed in receptacles marked
"Items Needing Special Handling," which are
found in copy rooms. These items, which are not permitted
in the normal refuse system, are disposed of through
a licensed disposal company. If you see that these receptacles
are becoming full, please call the Reception Desk at
7-0600 or e-mail Franklinservices@ucop.edu.
|
|
| |
