Narrator: This is Science Today. The Entrepreneurship Center at the University of California, San Francisco ,is set up to be a resource for scientists and clinicians to learn more about becoming entrepreneurs. Stephanie Marrus, who directs the center, says they are part of the Office of Innovation, Technology and Alliances.
Marrus: The Entrepreneurship Center at UCSF has a variety of programs to encourage entrepreneurs and give them the resources and network. We have a speakers series; we have an entrepreneurs club; we have a large number of mentors who are already engaged here. And we have lots of collaboration.
Narrator: Marrus says that the center's mentorship and the teaching teams provide a great support system, too, which helps people learn much faster.
Marrus: Entrepreneurship research has shown that if an entrepreneur works in a team, he's more likely to be successful than one who works on their own. And this is a team-based program that absolutely takes advantage of that knowledge.
