UC Compared to Other Institutions

A UC education is an excellent value compared to private universities. The cost to attend the University is somewhat higher than the average cost to attend public universities and colleges in other states.


Estimated expenses for 1995-96 academic year for single student living on campus. Expenses include tuition and/or fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses. For UC and public institutions tuition and/or fees are for state residents. UC figure is systemwide weighted average. Public institutions include the 23 state universities UC commonly uses for fee comparisons; private institutions include 22 universities that typically compete for UC undergraduates.
