Business Continuity Planning
The University of California constantly faces a variety of risks. Efforts revolve around preventing, preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from negative events. If the University is better prepared to handle everyday events, then the University will be ready to face the unimaginable. UC is creating a common framework to make UC "event-ready".
To support this endeavor, we are proud to announce the Restarting UC Business Continuity Planning Program. This is a systemwide program that will enable all of our campuses, medical centers and national laboratory to better prepare to meet the challenges of resuming business operations after a major event occurs.
Restarting UC Software Tool
Our systemwide Business Continuity Planning efforts will be centered through the use of the Restarting UC software. This software is a systemwide version of the national award winning business continuity software program developed by our very own UC Berkeley. Currently efforts are underway to adapt the software to meet our systemwide needs.

Funding for Staff
A Business Continuity Planner and an Administrative Assistant are the minimum staff needed at each location to effectively implement Restarting UC. A matching fund of up to $100,000 per location is available through UCOP.
