Universitywide Research Units Database
Two approaches, or a combination of each, are available
for locating descriptions of and contact for UC research centers of interest.
First, you may select centers of interest by technical focus area through
the Keyword Search option. The keyword search accepts basic Boolean search
queries (+, -, ""),
explained below.
+
A leading plus sign indicates that this word must be present in each
record that is returned. The plus sign is implied in the absence of other
Boolean characters in the query string. For example, +marine is the same
as marine.
-
A leading minus sign indicates that this word must not be present in
any of the records that are returned. For example, if you wanted
to find all instances of biology without marine, the query would
be +biology -marine
""
A phrase that is enclosed within quotation mark ("") characters
matches only records that contain the phrase literally, as it was
typed. The match must include any non-word characters in the desired phrase.
For example, "test phrase" does not match "test,
phrase."
(no operator)
By default (when +, -, or "" are NOT specified), the word
is optional, but the records that contain it are rated higher. For
example, if you search for marine biology, the returned records will
contain at least one of the words (marine but not biology, or vice
versa).
Secondly, you may obtain a listing of UC centers associated with a particular UC site or number of sites by checking the appropriate Campus/Laboratory Search boxes(s) below. Finally, you may fine tune your search further by a combination of these two
approaches.
