Oxford/Cambridge-National Institutes of Health
Biomedical Research Scholars Program |
| Purpose |
The NIH, and Oxford and Cambridge Universities in Britain, have
established a collaborative graduate program in biomedical sciences.
Students typically spend 2 years in England at either school, pursuing
tutorials and research on a collaborative project with an NIH intramural
scientist. They also spend at least two years in an NIH lab continuing their
thesis research project with doctoral degrees awarded by Oxford or
Cambridge. An option for combined
MD/PhD training through a US medical school also is available to a limited
number of students. |
| Grants |
Students receive a stipend of $24,800 per year (2006), health insurance and
other academic support in England and at the NIH. |
| Deadline |
January 9, 2007. About 14 new
students from all over the U.S. will be admitted to the program to start in the
summer of 2007. Oxford and Cambridge are
formally separate programs, but combine admissions so students choose
after acceptance. |
